What I Can Do For You

I have worked in the publishing field my entire worklife. Back-of-the-book indexing has been the part of the book production process that has most fascinated me over the years and that I am privileged now to do full-time. I have taken the courses, participate in a peer review group on a regular basis, and I’m a member of the American Society of Indexers. Having been a book production editor, I understand what a print deadline means after months of design, copyediting, proofreading, and working with an author. I also know what makes a good index.

Projects for Wordcraft LLC and Publishers Design and Production Services, Inc., both independent book production companies (publishers included Allyn & Bacon, Prentice Hall, Allen & Unwin, HarperCollins, South-Western Publishing, Springer Verlag), including textbooks and trade books on education, business, criminology, grammar, culinary arts, furniture making, fashion design, terrorism, cultural anthropology.

1985–2004 Fine Point Editorial Services (FPES), Shepherdstown, WV, Production Editor, Indexer, Copy Editor, Produced three quarterly and one bimonthly scientific journals per year for the Society of American Foresters—including working with authors, copy editing, indexing, desktop typesetting, and coordinating printing. Prepared indexes part-time for Wordcrafters, Inc., Reston, Virginia.
